Remember the saying "You're your own worst enemy."? Well, that's the characters situation with one exception: Aslan- who'll show up later on in this story, both as a peacemaker and as a guide to the characters.
Without exception, the characters are protagonists, but the main hazard is affection outside of proper bounderies. This does not make the affection bad, but like a weed, it's in the wrong place in the person's heart.
